Couple of issues

Post by Taleren » Fri Nov 11, 2005 8:10 am

First, Wineq 2 is a much better product than the first winEQ I tried in the past, nice work, have used EQPN for a couple of years now but did'nt find winEQ as a better alternative to EQwin until 2.0.

Anyway.... boxing 2 on 1 PC with winEQ 2 pro, having issues with the background account, first, while on one account and the background account is zoning, I have a alot of lag happening. The other problem is minor but a little annoying, whenever the background account has finished zoning the mouse cursor resets to the upper left of screen. Dont know if these are known issues or possible issues/settings with my machine but I am bored at work so I thought I would post it here in the hope of a solution.

Not sure on this one, you will have to show me sysinfo.txt (you can right click not the game window's titlebar and select Get System Info, and paste that).

EQ has this funny thing where it puts the cursor at position 10,10 at certain times, but I believe it only does this if the game is set to full screen mode. Try putting it in windowed, and see if that changes the behavior

Hmmmm looks pretty normal. My thoughts on the slowness while zoning..
1) If there's a lot of lag on the foreground session, that seems to indicate a lot of swapping is going on, which generally means you are extremely low on system RAM if there's any remaining. But, your sysinfo indicates that you have 430MB left at the moment, and I'm assuming you were running all of the sessions at the time of the log so that shouldn't be the problem. If you WERE only running one at the time of this sysinfo, then it IS a distinct possibility. When you're having lag problems, try flipping on the memory indicator temporarily (im assuming it's off) with CTRL+ALT+M, and see what's happening with that.
2) Aside from that, you could try updating some motherboard drivers on your system, particularly the ones that deal with IDE or SATA, whichever kind of drives you use. Make sure there's no unknown devices or devices with the yellow ! thing by them in the device manager, too.

I'm honestly not sure what else to suggest other than the standard responses -- try updating things, look for bios updates, etc. You seem to be up to date with video drivers and XP SP2, so I'm not really assuming that you dont take care of updating your system, but I dont see any other reason why you should have that sort of lag while zoning. Unless of course you mean lagi n the game while it is running full performance on your system, in which case you would want to tweak your network

Updated to Nforce drivers from Nvidia website but still having the same lag when zoning. I guess it could be that my PC is running at full graphic settings (not including a few luclin race models) but I dont know, its a little annoying but I can live with it, its not often i'm doing anything while zoning the other account anyway and zone time is'nt long.

There certainly is'nt a problem with ram, I run 2 accounts all the time with at least 28% System ram available (it used to be up to 60% - dont know what changed that).

I'll live with the minor annoyance, just thought i'd let you know it was there in case the problem is with WinEQ, it may well be just my PC but my girlfriend has the same problem although she has a completely different PC to me, when running or looking around in EQ while other account is zoning she also has jolted movement and graphic lag.
