WinEQ 2.0 Development Update 10/8/2004

Post by Lax » Sat Oct 09, 2004 1:24 am

We have removed the traditional "window modes" from WinEQ 2.0. That is, Normal, Full Screen (emulated), Quarter, Tiny. Now, there will be up to 10 (or that's the current plan, can really be any number...) "presets", each fully configurable with their own name, hotkey, window positioning, scale (rather than using a fixed height, we will be using a scale factor), borders on or off. Normal, Full Screen (emulated), and Tiny will be the only defaults at this time.

We also added a short duration popup text, similar to the LDoN adventure completion text that pops up. The text begins white and fades to black over 2 seconds. Currently in testing, this is used to show the window scale when manually sizing the window by dragging, as well as the name of the preset when switching to a new window preset. It will also be used to display low memory warnings and probably some other useful stuff too.

Also, the Account, Help, and Web Site buttons from the main menu inside Everquest will now work correctly with WinEQ.

Remaining features for us to work on include tiling, picture in picture, tweaks to our UI system, and settings windows. All settings will be handled on a per-game basis through our plugin system. There will only be one setting window per game, rather than a window for "global" preferences and another for "profile" preferences.

Development of WinEQ 2.0 is on schedule for beta testing (for subscribers only at first) with EverQuest by next weekend.
