WinEQ v1.15 Released

Post by Lax » Sat Jul 24, 2004 3:45 pm

This update fixes stability and missing texture issues on many systems. as well as some new features including an on-screen available memory indicator for subscribers and allows all users to use separate eqclient.ini files for each profile. Here is the complete list of changes.

- WinEQ is now aware of your system's available video RAM and physical system RAM
** Note: Video RAM includes both the video card's RAM as well as AGP memory, which is
system RAM that the video card is allowed to borrow if it needs more memory. If your
system runs out of physical RAM to allocate, and the video card tries to allocate more
memory using remaining AGP memory that it thinks is available, YOUR SYSTEM WILL BLUE SCREEN!
I am working to see what I can do about that issue, which I believe is why people get
reboots with EQWindows as well.
- Problems with low end/value video cards should be solved. Testing has been done using
a GeForce 2 MX200 32MB.
- In-game crashes due to lack of video memory (a "feature" of EQ) have been replaced with
a message box indicating the error and termination of the process.
- WinEQ now displays a warning message if an EQ session is started with less than about 190MB
remaining physical RAM, or less than about 40MB video RAM
- Subscribers now have an optional memory indicator that displays the currently available
video RAM and system physical RAM. This option is found in Global Preferences, and is
limited to displaying after server selection.
- No sound option will now delete the nosound.txt file after it is used, so that sound will
work in profiles where sound is enabled
- Num 0 and Num Del should now work correctly as global hotkeys
- WinEQ now applies the original gamma when the last EQ session is closed
- Patching EQ now works through WinEQ
- WinEQ now allows usage of custom eqclient.ini files per profile (for use with multiple
EQ sessions in the same directory), for the options editor program as well as the game
itself. If the ini file does not exist, it will be created automatically from eqclient.ini
- WinEQ no longer uses a copy of eqgame.exe in a subdirectory of EverQuest
- Split the WinEQ Global Preferences "General" tab into General and Display

Please continue to report any problems.

* Update: Download fixed. The WinEQ.exe for the first 10 people that downloaded WinEQ 1.15 was corrupt and would not run. Just re-download.
