Fury Alpha is here!

Post by Lax » Sat Jan 15, 2005 10:39 pm

Fury, our long-awaited text parsing software, has entered the Alpha stage as of tonight!

Fury is designed to be the next-generation "EQWatcher", Lax's old EverQuest log parser. Because of this, there may be certain assumptions about Fury, most of which are not true. For example, EQWatcher was extensible but only through EQWatcher scripts. Fury does not include a scripting language, and is extensible through DLLs. EQWatcher's scripting system was rarely taken advantage of, with only a handful of scripts ever written, and none of them made improvements on the combat statistics (one of the major uses for log parsers). Fury plugins can be expected to perform a wide variety of real-time as well as "offline" parsing tasks, including combat statistic information.

Tonight's initial release includes demonstration plugins for Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest 1 and 2. The demonstration plugins provide text-to-speech for chat, and the EverQuest 2 plugin also includes damage per second calculation at the end of each fight. These plugins are open source, and will be expanded by us as well as community members.

The Fury download is currently found in the Fury Pro forum, visible to subscribers upon logging into the forums.
