I've restarted computer, reinstalled wineq2, run eq1 patcher, and eq1 won't launch via wineq2. When I start wineq2 and then start eq1, it will fail with some kind of -16 error message. nevermind, had wineq2 running still (just on the taskbar) and it caused it to crash still, I closed that, then tried patcher again and it worked. so, i guess you can't even have it running in the background when you load eq, even if you're not using it.

try using the patcher and loading up Everquest the sony way... it's client crashing just before character select as well. I think this may sony's problem.
