Record in IS gives me "Recording failed" on the next line in the console, no video file present in videos folder

im setting up another gaming rig today, gonna try it out on that one incase theres a problem with the way i have my codecs setup. I had some video problems awhile back and removed all installed codecs and reinstalled the ones i needed. gspot and sniper show no broken codecs.

aye, ive tried all the preset video resolutions with each of the capture settings toggled differently (sound, preshrink, compression, different quality/rates and width/height settings) They all do the same thing (instantly saying cant capture with 0 byte files) except the sound toggle which crashes ...

forgot to mention, i have media player 10 installed along with wmp9 codecs. could this have something to do with it?
