FYI, I found that these new Asus motherboards default to overclocking the CPU and FSB. I've removed the overclock (jeez, it's a 3.2 ghz Pentium D, doesn't need overclocking LOL) and it appears that this may be the fix for my problem.

I am not setting the processor affinity. I can say that it's possible that I have not played eq without wineq2 long enough to duplicate the issue.
