Problems with Vista

Post by Thaydin » Wed Jan 31, 2007 5:45 pm

I used WinEQ 2 on my old pc and it ran fine. We bought a new computer yesterday and it won't let the patcher file download not sure if this is a problem from Vista's security programs not letting it through or a compatibility issue.

The message I get is:

"Could not successfully retrieve new file Lavishpatcher.exe (-20). Aborting patch. You may continue to use the software."

At this point WinEQ is up on my taskbar at bottom right like always but when I go to prefrerences all it has listed is "general" has no game listings to open things for EQ,DAoC,WoW or anything.

WinEQ requires administrator access to the machine because it has to update files in the Program Files directory (The default user for an XP machine IS the administrator account versus vista, every user runs as a limited user).
