Frequently Asked Questions relating to ISBoxer Suite
This information takes time to provide. Please bear with us while we fill in the details and add more Frequently Asked Questions.
General
Do I need multiple game accounts to run multiple characters?
Yes.
Is this safe to use with the game ________?
EverQuest 2
- See Khatovar's e-mail to SOE and their customer service response. Thanks to Khatovar for sharing this.
World of Warcraft
Others
There have been no reported suspensions or bans in any game.
How do I move my characters together? They seem to run off in different directions!
In order to move your characters together with the movement keys or mouselook, you would need to perfectly synchronize their camera angle, or they will not be moving in the same direction. Additionally, other factors such as framerate (Frames per Second) or loading times may adversely affect your ability to move as one.
The preferred way to move your characters together is to move one, and have the others using the game's auto-follow functionality. It would be very difficult to play multiple characters together without auto-follow. Depending on the game you are playing, there may be multiple options for you to set this up:
- All games
- Create a Mapped Key with a Keystroke Action that presses your auto-follow key, to follow a specified character or each character's current target
- World of Warcraft
- Use the Hot Character switch notifier feature to broadcast a keystroke, and check the Generate Follow macro box to cause your Characters to auto-follow the Hot Character when you switch
- Use the Hot Character switch notifier feature to broadcast a keystroke, and check the Generate Focus macro box to cause your Characters to select the Hot Character with Focus targeting, then create a Mapped Key with a World of Warcraft Macro Action assigned to /follow focus
- Select a different set of FTL Modifiers for each Slot in your Character Set, then create a Mapped Key with FTL Modifiers enabled, with the command set to /follow, and check the "But first" box, selecting "Target Hot Character"
Can I reload my changes while playing, without closing my game?
Yes. Set the "In-game ISBoxer GUI toggle hotkey" for your Character Set. Example: CTRL+ALT+G. Then, use the hotkey in-game to toggle the in-game ISBoxer interface. This interface has a Reload button. You must use that button, after Exporting to Inner Space, in each window you want to reload settings in (note: ISBoxer Build 32 changes the Reload button reload on all).
World of Warcraft: Note that the Reload button cannot be used to reload in-game Macros generated by ISBoxer. To reload Macros in World of Warcraft, enter the following command in your WoW chat window:
/console reloadui
Action Target Groups
Characters
Does my Character name in ISBoxer have to match the in-game name?
No. However, you should fill in the "Actual name" field for the Character if it does not match, particularly if the game you are playing has macros configurable through ISBoxer (currently only World of Warcraft).
Character Sets
Slots
World of Warcraft: My Focus Target settings do not seem to be working!
- If your Characters are not grouped in-game, the generated Focus Target macro will be unable to set the Focus Target.
- Make sure that each Slot is broadcasting a different keystroke. The current version of ISBoxer Toolkit will prevent this from happening, but it was possible in older versions.
Can the Hotkey to switch be different than the Broadcast keystroke?
Yes. There is no correlation between the hotkey you press to switch, and the keystroke that is broadcast. They can be the same, or they can be different. The difference between these settings is one is for you to press to switch, and the other is interpreted by the game.
Computers
Key Maps
How do I disable Key Maps so I can type in a chat window, etc?
Create a Mapped Key in a separate Key Map (so as to not disable your Toggle key). As part of that Mapped Key, create a Key Map State Action, and select the Key Map you want to disable. Select the Toggle option in the Key Map State Action to toggle the Key Map. Alternatively, you may find it useful to use a 2-step Mapped Key with one step turning the Key Map on, and one step turning it off. Each step can then have a Popup Text Action informing you of the change in your own words.
How can I disable Key Maps with the same key I disable Repeater with?
Follow the procedure from "How do I disable Key Maps so I can type in a chat window, etc?" above, and add a Repeater State Action (or one per step). You may find that you do not need to set a Hotkey in the Repeater Profile.
Does Key Repeat need to be enabled for sending keystrokes?
No. Key Repeat is used only for one-to-one (meaning that the broadcast is identical to the original) sending of keystrokes, and does not need to be enabled except when you want the one-to-one broadcast functionality.
Repeater
Window Layout
Do I have to use the Auto Layout button?
No. It is just a convenient way to set up your Window Layout. See the Configuring a Window Layout section of the Getting Started guide for details on manually creating your own Window Layout.
How come the Auto Layout window won't let me put 2 sessions?
Just put 3 and ignore the extra window it generates. It is not harmful to have additional regions defined.
The size of the non-main regions that are generated depends on the number of sessions you enter in the form. With 2, the extra regions would be too large for this feature to be generally useful.
How come the Auto Layout window won't let me put more than 8 sessions?
The size of the non-main regions that are generated depends on the number of sessions you enter in the form. With more than 8, the extra regions would be too small for this feature to be generally useful (even 8 is stretching it). You may find it more beneficial to manually add additional regions after generating with 8, using the Add button on the Regions page.
Virtual Files
How should I set up Virtual Files for the game ________?
The instructions below are summarized and contain as little information as possible to describe the information needed for the specific game. See Configuring Virtual Files in the Getting Started guide for detailed instructions on how to create a Virtual File, and use the recommendations below.
EverQuest 1
- To keep your Account Name for login
- Create a Virtual File called eqlsPlayerData.ini. For each Character, virtualize as a different file name as desired. For example, you may wish to keep an eqlsPlayerData.ini for each EQ1 account, and use the same file for each Character on a given EQ1 account, e.g. eqlsPlayerData-MyAccount.ini.
- To keep in-game settings per Character
- Create a Virtual File called eqclient.ini. For each Character, virtualize as a different file name as desired (example: eqclient-Bob.ini for a Character named Bob).
EverQuest 2
To be determined.
World of Warcraft
Create a Virtual File called Config.WTF. For each Character, virtualize as a different file name as desired (example: Config-Bob.WTF for a Character named Bob). This will make it easy to keep your Account Name, selected Server (Realm) and selected Character for speedy logins, and keeps in-game settings such as view distance per Character.
