I just recently reinstalled EQ again along with WinEQ. I was able to play and run 3 instances just fine but then I tried to play the the next day and I had severe lag issues and trouble getting EQ to load (via WinEQ).
This, along with some other problems on my laptop made me decide to do a fresh install of Vista. So I did that, reinstalled EQ and everthing worked ok... I loaded WinEQ and tried to run EQ through it but now it locks up everytime I try to click on anything outside the EQ window. WinEQ also loads up EQ very slowly (probably 5-6x slower than when it was originally working well).

WinEQ2 w/ EQ1 -- Sluggish Performance/Locking Up
Moderators: Lavish Software Team, Moderators
Update -- I tried to run EQ through WinEQ2 again tonight after having changed the Properties-->Security to all full control for the WinEQ2 folder & also disabled the UAC. I was able to load two instances of EQ (Slowly) but whenever I clicked outside the EQ Window the computer would lock up for a while before it allowed me to do whatever it was I clicked on (for example if I clicked on the WinEQ2 icon in the taskbar to start another instance or even if I shift+right clicked to exit WinEQ2).
Bump - I'm still having the same issue...
I actually tried installing WinEQ on a freind's laptop (virtually the same h/w & s/w) and I am having the exact same problem.
Prior to installing WinEQ
- EQ runs perfectly (w/ out WinEQ)
- Able to load multiple instances of EQ just fine
- Alt-Tabbing or changing the focus to or from EQ is instanteous
- First time WinEQ is run, everything works great.
After Installing WinEQ
- EQ loads *very* slowly (w/ out WinEQ)
- Sometimes the game will not load at all (with or with out WinEQ running)
- Have a hard time getting 2 instances runnning at the same time
- Alt-Tabbing or changing the focus to or from EQ takes anywhere from 15 sec to 2 mins.
The only thing that I can think of that I did after the WinEQ installation is that I changed the resolution from the default to split screen (1440X900 --> 720X900) on the two instances I ran (I did this on both laptops). Perhaps my eqclient.ini file is corrupt?
Can someone please help me?
Thanks,
-Glacios

Fixed!
Well, I took my laptop over to a friends house to troubleshoot it... and to my surprise, I set it up and ran perfectly. I figured it had to be a network/router problem so I took it home and tried bypassing the router and connecting to the modem directly. Unfortunately, I still had the same issues and tried to think of what was different between how I had my laptop setup at my friend's house and mine.
The only thing I could think of that was different was that I had a USB keyboard plugged in. Sure enough I unplugged the keyboard and everything ran great.
Just wanted to share my solution incase any other came across this particular problem.
