Howdy. I dont know the details for installing via wine, but I had no problems last time I tested it under Cedega (winex). The only things it requires are emulated by Cedega (including DirectX 9)

Just an FYI: The new check for DirectX > April 2006 fails when running IS under Cedega.

I installed the June 2006 DirectX redist under Cedega, but IS doesn't see it. Most likely this is due to the way Cedega emulates certain .dlls. It's probably reporting a version string that IS doesn't like.

This may be un-fixable, and is certainly low/no priority, but I just thought I'd put it out there.

Ugh.

Ok, no problem. I made a quick change so that it checks to see if it's under wine variants, and it will not check for the DirectX update. But, if you dont have the updated DX DLLs it will give an error

Has this happened yet? I've tried running it under wine (with a variety of dll overrides from d3dx9_30.dll to d3dx9_36.dll and it still gives me a popup redirecting me to Microsoft's site.

Yes, in July 2006. A lot of people are running IS under wine. Here's a thread with several links and other information that might help you: http://www.isxwow.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1376

Thanks, that was exactly what I needed, didn't realize there was that much more to it than overriding one DLL :)
