In group and and crash on enter (WoW and IS)

Post by bob_the_builder » Sat Apr 30, 2005 3:26 pm

If I am still in a group , like I EXIT or crash out of WoW I can not enter back into that character until I am remvoed from the group. Acrually get a WoW.EXE crash on entering. Seems to have just poppe dup recently, cause I recall using EXIT to leave a group and stay in an instance and now I can't do that. Well let me know if there is any debug or anything I can do.

To recap.
- EXIT or crash out of WoW w/ IS and make sure you stil stay in group
- Try to enter back into game and crash on wow.exe

Errr... and this doesn't behave the same way without Inner Space? Odd. I'll do some testing, but you could paste me the info in the WoW crash box if you want

Aye, what I have to do to fix it is enter in without IS (use wineq) and then exit the group properly or log on as a different toon and message someone in group to kick me out.

the problem is that if your not in a group in an instance you get kicked to bind in 60? seconds. More of an encumberance then anything.

Sure, next time it happens *(though I have been trying not for it to happen) I'll paste the wow.exe screen stuff here.

Thanks in advance.

Next question is, do you have ISXWoW loaded automatically? If it's ISXWoW's fault you might just have to unload it until after you enter

Gah, you think auto loading iswow may be issue?

I can certainly try, its "fairly" easy to recreate. I just have to be in a zone that pops up with the EXIT NOW or wait 30 seconds box...

Ill try though and let you know either way

Well, any time something happens in game ONLY under certain circumstances, I'll have to at least rule out any custom extensions as the source of the problem. Otherwise, things would generally happen every time in a given game, but it's entirely possible that it's IS's fault.

Check that first and let me know, and I'll try to figure it out if it's not

ISXWoW is still loaded (are you sure you typed "ext -unload isxwow" and didnt accidentally try loading it again or mistyped it?). The crash report says that the code at 0x0B708FFE is crashing because it tries to read something that isnt there:
The instruction at "0x0B708FFE" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "read".
The "Stack Trace" shows what this code is in:
----------------------------------------
Stack Trace (Manual)
----------------------------------------

Address Frame Logical addr Module

0B708FFE 0012FAF8 0001:00007FFE C:\Program Files\InnerSpace\Extensions\isxwow.dll
005F07C2 0012FDC8 0001:001EF7C2 C:\Games\World of Warcraft\wow.exe
If ISXWoW was successfully unloaded, it would no longer be in memory and the name would not be available in the stack trace. Because it's actually code *in* ISXWoW that is crashing (as shown in red above), you'll have to take this one to the guys that work on ISXWoW to fix the bug

This was wife's puter, but it is easy to duplicate. Crash to desktop, stay in group, try to come back in. Only happens with IS loaded (not isxwow).

Well, in the crash report pasted, ISXWoW was loaded, as demonstrated in the quotes from your paste, highlights in red... and it was ISXWoW code reading something that didnt exist...

If you can get me the crash report without ISXWoW loaded in the first place, then that would help, but it's definitely loaded in your posted crash log

Sounds kinky.

No problem whatsoever, I'm here to answer questions and solve problems and you did the right thing by asking. :)

Well I got fed up, wanted to narrow it down.

i assume I never "unloaded" isxwow correctly or successfully.

It seems to happen ONLY with isxwow loaded.

Well lax, again, sorry to waste your time. Thanks for slapping me silly with a 10lbs tuna. i needed it.
