Since this last patch, I have been unable to open any instance of Everquest using Wineq. I right click, go to load default profile and each and every time am returning with an error/crash box containing the following messages:

Software: WinEQ Injector 2.15 (Sat May 11 06:30:39 2013)
Crash: 0x03444B22: Exception 0xc0000005 reading from address 0x498F1347 in module WinEQ2.dll

The issue in this thread is not the issue you guys are experiencing, actually.

The OP's crash report clearly lists the live version of EverQuest and is from a few months ago. You're all on October 2005 version of EverQuest, and crashing due to a new issue from today's WinEQ 2 update...

I can't get your crash to happen even with the Oct 2005 version of EverQuest and on the same version of Windows, so it seems that I'm missing some necessary information to solve the problem for you...

Same issue, one helpful addition

Post by ShadowKatmandu » Wed Jul 31, 2013 7:50 am

Whenever I attempt to launch EQ through WinEQ2, a file appears in the main EQ folder, ILLEGAL.TXT, which has a single line:

You have an illegal client filename mswsock.dll (fndi = 20, n = 1, EQGAME.EXE)

EQ launches fine through Launchpad. Any ideas?

I've updated WinEQ 2 this morning to restore previous compatibility (and still fix the Launchpad issue). Patch up and let me know if the problem continues; thanks

Still cannot get EQ to launch via WinEQ2. Looked at the SysInfo.txt, and saw something odd in the DX9 section:

This patch helped my setup.

Before the patch I was able to get Everquest emu running by running:
-WinEQ2 with admin privileges and compatibility mode xp 3
-Everquest with admin privileges and no compatibility mode

Was grateful to have it working, but on my setup for some reason if I don't run Everquest in XP SP3 mode the EQ icons will jump around in the taskbar.

After the 7/31 patch I now run WinEQ2 without admin or compatibility mode, and EQ with admin and compatibility. Everything is working normal now.

I cannot get it to work at all. I wish they would fix this or reverse the patch until it is resolved
