are the registration servers down?

Post by scaevola » Thu Apr 14, 2011 8:34 pm

I've been trying to login to using wineq and as of today(worked fine yesterday)

1) my login/password is not being saved between sessions of using WinEq
2)Once I click the "server select" screen to join a specifc server wineq just collaspses and my password is removed from the configuration.

Is there any issue with the registration server?

Very frustrating and i'm a tad frazzeled. Everything worked superbly yesterday but today is very very different.

Sorry. This sounds like EverQuest needs to be patched. Run the patcher outside of WinEQ :)

Hmm I have run the patcher.

Its not effecting 3 of my machines (none of them work).

I wonder if it's due to the latest patch that last week that required you to run the station app to patch eq.

The only thing I can see now is that, the display options inside eq no longer display refresh rates/bit depth.

I even tried deleting my configuration files.

And my friend who has win eq pro account on my machine experience the same issue. (He's gonna try inner space this weekend). He's on vista x64 and has no issue.

The hand off to server select closes out and the main eq app never loads in.

What's interesting is I was able to get in on patch day via eqw.

I'll post another diagnostic soon. All machines are x64 win7 pro/entperise/home premium. All up todate as well.

stumped.

Lax,

Thanks again for the response. I used the station launcher verified the display information was available in the normal game.

Logged and and booted up with wineq

What's interesting is after the fatal shut down, my credentials never work in the lavish login. I have to manually exit out of the application and restart it (also the credentials aren't being saved between sessions).

Is there anything I can provide to assist this further? I can literally show you over teamviewer what is happening. For what it is worth.

FWIW. The new 3.0 patcher no longer(even)installed a everquest.exe.

Rather the points directly at the LaunchPad.exe.

Is there anyway to modify the Wineq patch to point at a nonstandard .exe like launchpad.exe rather than the everquest.exe?

Anywy I'm happy to provide more help.

I still haven't figured what's up with my machine. Updated the graphic drivers today via steam.

I have a feeling some re-working maybe required with the entire deployement when the patcher version 3 become mandatory(http://launch.soe.com/everquest/). So I'd like to offer my assistance (side effect getting EQ to work again!) Can't ..use the official one, hate!.

If you prefer I can pm me directly for an email or gtalk name.

Just turn off the Patch option in your WinEQ 2 profile, and then which launcher you would be using is irrelevant. Point WinEQ 2 at the folder that contains eqgame.exe as installed by whichever Launcher. There is no difference in how the game itself gets launched, it's still "eqgame.exe patchme".

If I were to patch WinEQ 2 to address these issues, the only thing I would really do is permanently remove the Patch option so it's permanently disabled instead...

Well. I'm out of ideas. Even if I use the non-patch option it literally displays server select and then closes out completley. (Yet the task bar icon remains, however successive logins always yeild an error -14.)
(with the old patcher)

My point was using the eq install with the brand new lancher (see url above) always yields:
1)w/o patcher - the above memory error
2)the pop up message:
D:\Everquest\Everquest.exe does not exist
(As the Launchpad.exe) has removed the linkeage to the everquest.exe completley and shuttles you directly to the eqgame.exe

(And I do work in Software Developement/QA, so I have few reference skills].

My point is using the launchpad3 and hooking the installed directory never yields success. This was more meant as of a cause bug reporting.

Even using the old launchpad the app basically gets to the serverr select, I click join server and it closes it out.

------------------------------
I'm tempted to drop money down for innerspace and see if this fixes the issue but ....

Do the logs above indicate:
-it's a win7 x64 os level bug
-it's a hardware/driver issue [I am using radeon but I have other friends with out such problems
-It's a hotfix/security patch is causing all my woes?
-It's an eq*.dll patch recently which causing a fatal exception?
-It's an issue with my configuration in wineq?

I don't need everything that innerspace offers. To be honest I really admired and appreciated how well the windowing system worked with eq2(I was an adamant supporter of the original wineq back in the day).

The gamma bug and the freeze between alt-tabbing in out of the app keep me here.

It is my setup? I've spent counltless hours trying to figure out which security updates I can roll back and see if it suddenly starts working again. Literally like 1-2 hours a week day since this started on the 12.

The login option from the WinEQ 2 menu should be usable for 1-3 minutes, and then will give the -14. Either way, totally unnecessary except to change from one Lavish account to another.

As far as closing out completely at server select it's impossible to tell you for sure. If the 0x0000c828 error happens at that point, then it's probably related to the game resetting the display. You could try resetting your eqclient.ini file

How can I reset the value? I even tried deleting the .ini but the problem still occurs.

Well to be honest now that you're a subscriber you should switch to using ISBoxer instead of WinEQ 2 ;)
Windows Version: Microsoft Windows XP/Service Pack 2/7601.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850
Is the game (or WinEQ 2) in windows xp compatibility mode? :(
