WinEQ 2 & EverQuest Extended

Post by metaldog » Thu Aug 26, 2010 5:53 pm

HI I was just wondering if WinEQ 2 can run with the extended version of the game.

I've tried but it seems extended has to go via the launcher rather than be able to go direct from the client, I've tried running the client from the folder & it fails the same as when I tried running it through WinEQ 2.

Am I simply not configuring something correctly or is this unsupported right now?

I can probably add it to WinEQ 2, I'll see if it'll work

Right, you will get that error if you turn Patch off in WinEQ 2. Do you get a different problem if you leave Patch on? Sorry I haven't been able to get to this yet

Hi there, I have tried switching patch to on from within wineq2.0 lite.

I now get an erroe box which says:
WinEQ2 cannot find your game!

D:\Program Files\Sonly Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II Extended\EQ2.exe does not exist. Please correct the path.
I am correctly telling the program in which folder to look, my guess is that the extended client is not called EQ2.exe

It seems SoE changed the client in some way as it can now be triggered from within the folder without having first used the launcher but when looking at the path via properties it looks like this:
D:\Program Files\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II Extended
Which is just looking into the folder, there doesn't appear to be any
.exe
file type used.

Make a copy of the Everquest2 file and rename it EQ2. You cannot rename the base file or the program crashes.
