Odd WinEQ 2.0 Lite problem

Post by pesv95ab » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:55 am

I run Windows 7 Proffessional 64 bit. Windows standard firewall, Microsoft Security Essentials as anti-virus and Windows Defender as malware protection.

I install WinEQ 2.0 Lite with no problems. I have installed it on a separate hard-drive than Windows 7.

But when I run WinEQ it pops up saying

"Could not connect to Lavish Software. Make sure your firewall is not blocking WinEQ2 from making outgoing connections, and try again"

I open up WinEQ to full access in the standard windows firewall, I run it in Win XP SP3 mode and administrator mode.. same problem.

I have even tried to install it on my Win XP machine and I get the same result.

Since I dont know the ports WinEQ uses then I cant be sure that it is my router/ISP that is the problem, but then again I have not changed that at all since the time I could use WinEQ with no problems.

I have been able to use WinEQ 2.0 before for years for playing Everquest, but it is only within the last few months this problem has occurred.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Our software connects at launch time to lavishsoft.com on port 10101 via TCP. WinEQ 2 does need Administrator to be able to write to the folder (unless it's installed outside of program files) but otherwise has no special requirements to run on Windows 7.

Really strange then. I have even now mapped 10101 via TCP in port triggering and forwarding and still nothing. Must be my ISP then that is blocking the port, which is even more odd since it must be the only port they are blocking.

I'm having the same issue on XP, with no firewall running.

Sorry, it's outgoing TCP port 11500, not 10101. 10101 is used by a different Lavish product (Inner Space) for connecting to other local PCs, and you do not need any incoming ports open.
