Error loading WinEQ 2.0

Post by Toader1974 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 9:30 am

I downloaded the software but when I go to run it I get this message, "Could not successfully retrieve new file LavishPatcher.exe (-20). Aborting patch. You may continue to use the software."

I can use the software but it doesn't let me configure any games to run through it. Any ideas? I'm running Vista. The software works on my XP machine.

Thanks.

I ran the startup as Administrator but does it normally take several minutes to connect?

As it runs through the startup it goes really slow compared to the last time I ran it on my XP machine. It goes so slow that at times the task manager shows it as Not Responding. Is that normal?

You have to run the installer as administrator, and you have to run the shortcut as administrator.

Run as admin and wait for the patch to complete.

The patch time usually takes several minutes so be patient.

I am running it as a user that is defined with admin rights, does it need to be the actual admin for it to work correctly?

-20 means that the file could not be opened for writing. This either means that the file has been made read-only, or that your windows user does not have the permissions to write to the file.

Windows Vista by default prevents user accounts from patching software in the Program Files folder. To patch the software from your user account that does not have permissions, you will need to right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator".

If you attempted to run the software without "Run as Administrator" on an account that is set up with administrator privileges, and it doesn't work, then the answer is you still have insufficient permissions for the patcher to operate.

You do not generally need to run WinEQ 2 as an administrator
