Two-boxing EQ1 on one machine

Post by atwrc » Thu Jun 12, 2008 11:14 pm

Been playing EQ on and off since it's inception, and two-boxing on whatever my most recent machine was for most of that time. After taking off from EQ for a few months, I decided to start again, but I cannot get my machine to two-box any longer. I have been using WinEQ 2.15 Lite for over a year without issue, but I guess one of the recent patches blew me out of the water.

The first account is perfectly fine whether or not I launch EQ stand-alone [on my c:\drive] or through WinEQ 2.15 Lite. Regrdless of how I attempt to launch my 2nd EQ session (stand-alone on my d:\drive], the 2nd session always gets to the character screen but when a character is selected, the 2nd EQ session crashes. I even tried to lauch two EQ sessions using the same profile through WinEQ 2.15 Lite (ie, I launched two sessions using the EQ executable on from the c:\drive) but the 2nd session always crashes (with a message of "eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." There's a debug button but nothing happens when you click on it.

I have installed the most recent video drivers and have deleted the various eq files (eqgame.exe, eqclient.ini, etc) that Sony says to delete if you have videa issues, and I do have up-to-date Directx Drivers. I even launched both EQ accounts separately and turned all the advanved video settings to lower values and/or off. Is my system just too damn old anymore ? Will an upgrade to the Full version of WinEq 2 help at all ?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as I enjoy two-boxing EQ but don't want to go back to grouping (my L80 warrior cannot solo anything that gives decent XP) ... and I don't want to solo my L70 Druid any more.

Here is my sysinfo.txt data:

Make sure the setting for EQ (in your eqclient.ini's for each instance of EQ) for the Refresh is set to the same setting. I've had problems where the Refresh setting was some whacky # (no idea how..) or it was blank.

For me, I just set both to 60 (which is what my Dell 22" WS is set to for Windows refresh) and haven't had further problems (so far, knock on wood, etc.).
