error message

Post by sparklorph » Mon Jul 25, 2005 11:19 pm

I receive an error meaage when i start up EQ using WinEQ 2.0. It says "Error in GUI XML files." Also, i don't think it's with EQ b/c i can load EQ without using the WinEQ program.

Any help would be great!!!

Thanks

Post sysinfo.txt for me

There was an issue with this before, but it was only about a half hour before the problem was solved and only affected a couple people. If I remember correctly, it had to do with eqclient.ini. If you've changed WinEQ settings, you might try deleting WinEQ2.ini and starting from scratch (or uninstall and reinstall WinEQ 2) as well.

nevermind, sry for being so stupid....and for all of you other stupid people....you have to go under the options and turn on patch....i was tring to run it without patches....which is why it wouldn't work

Thanks for not responding again....i feel a little better

Unfortunately everything looks normal.

Try making a backup of your eqclient.ini, and then deleting it so EQ creates another. If that solves it, then there must be something wrong in the eqclient.ini file itself of course. If not, then I'm going to have to figure out what it was that caused this problem before and what could be causing it for you now.

In the WinEQ 2.0 Preferences window, under the EverQuest section, find Profiles. Under Profiles, find the profile you're launching the game with (e.g. the default profile, which is the top one), and click it. On the right hand side you will find the options for the profile. Find the one titled Patch, and turn it ON to tell WinEQ to launch the game via the patcher instead of directly.
