WoW: Warning: Low System Memory

Post by Shyanha » Sun Jul 10, 2005 2:08 pm

I'm trying to figure out what causes this issue. It begins flashing on my screen and then counts down from about 24 MB to 3 MB. Game still runs, though choppy.

I have:

P4 1.8 MHz
Chaintek nVidea 5200 GeForce, 256 MB
Kingston 333 MHz 512 PC2700

I have 4.5 gigs free on my hard drive. I set the variable for virtual memory at 1500 - 2000 (up from the default 768).

I do get quite a bit of lag, too. My system should be plenty to run the game, but it's being stubborn and revolting against the idea.

Here's the SysInfo.txt:

The problem is simply that 512MB of system RAM is actually pretty low. You can play WoW with 512MB, but you should make sure not much else is going on in the background -- extra programs running, etc. Other than purchasing more RAM, you try can shutting programs down and using slightly lower WoW settings, or try running a RAM scrubber while you play.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I get a low texture memory warning, too, while running two accounts-- Well, I did before I reduced the graphic's settings from absolute max to not so absolute...

Turn off multisampling in WoWs video settings.(there isn't an actual 'off' setting, set it to '24 bit x1 multisampling' or something like that). Doing this alone was enough to fix the problem for me. And though I had a 'stuttering' problem, too. I had fixed that before fixing the low texture memory, so for me they were unrelated.

But as Lax said. Your stuttering is likely due to low system memory... Turning off/down multisampling and/or other options may help. As though WoW may not look it, and it runs exceptionally well on older systems, WoW at max settings uses a ton of memory. Both texture and system..
