Problem with WinEQ2.0

Post by Jcey » Mon Feb 21, 2005 6:11 am

Hello, i know this question has been asked before but i haven't found any fix for it in my instance so i thought i would post to see if there is something i am doing wrong...

I install WinEQ to the same hard drive as Everquest is in, i patch WinEQ, set up the preferences, turn the patcher off (and i have tried with the patcher on) and when i right click and select a profile i wait a couple of seconds and get the "EQgame.exe has encountered a problem" So i don't even get to the patcher or EULA...

I have recently formatted my computer (last week) all my drivers are up to date, i have checked for Spyware and Virus's...My system seems to be very clean of any errors...I have also tried download and installing on my secondry computer (secondry computer was formatted last night)I have done all of the above on that computer aswell and the same thing occurs which makes me think i am missing something in preferences or something?

I haven't subscribed just yet, i wanted to test it out before paying any money to make sure it is what i need...Is that the problem? Do i have to subscribe in order to test it out in the game?

I see two things, and one of them I can pretty much guarantee is a problem.

1. Module 38: C:\DOCUME~1\Jcey\LOCALS~1\Temp\IadHide5.dll
- It is unclear whether this is really spyware, but it is part of BackWeb, and is popularly installed with F-Secure. I doubt it's a problem, but it does look suspicious.

This next thing is the actual problem:
2. Module 43: D:\Program Files\Sony\Everquest\d3d9.dll
You failed to mention whatever you installed that pretends to be d3d9 in order to work -- last time this was reported it was an "autofire" program, and I would assume you're using the same one? http://www.lavishsoft.com/forum/viewtop ... t=autofire
Fortunately, the main problem was solved... Unfortunately, it crashes. Sadly, making a fake d3d9.dll is not a good way for the autofire program to be handled... and it probably wont be supported by WinEQ :(

I don't think that it was spyware but you probably right about it being back up and i will get rid of it just incase....

The .dll i had thought i downloaded and installed from directx 9.0c i guess it isn't, how strange, i have never had autofire as i'm not an ranger, infact i play all wis/int casters lol. I was wondering if maybe that is part of the autofire thing that Sony put in themselves? I don't know anything about it but my friend was telling me there was a version of Autofire introduced...Oh well i presume it is ok to delete? So i will do that and try to run the program again :)

Thanks for the help Lax, much appreciated :)

Ok it was the d3d9.dll file that was the problem, thanks so much for pointing that out to me, i wouldn't have figured it out on my own :)
