When you speak of "Version 2.47" you need to realize that EQWindows and WinEQ are different software, from different developers. But beyond that ;)

WinEQ 2 is more sensitive to things like spyware and viruses because it is adapted to work with many games, so its architecture is a little bit different than EQWindows or WinEQ 1.38, and relies on certain rules or assumptions about the way software works. Some software, including spyware and viruses, breaks these rules and causes problems when running WinEQ 2.

You will find that WinEQ 2 works great on a clean system. If you had another computer or a spare hard drive, you could install a clean copy of Windows, update its drivers and get the windows updates and service packs, and WinEQ would perform as desired. This is far from an ideal world, so I wouldn't expect you to have either of those handy.

What I would expect you to have handy is what I suggest to everyone else with this issue. 1. Close all running programs and try again. If you find an incompatible program, let me know. 2. Check for viruses and spyware. 3. update drivers
