Problems with second EQ instance

Post by cultureofgreed » Tue Jan 04, 2005 6:20 pm

AMD 1.5 gig proc
1.5 gig PC2700 ram
256mb Nvidia GFX5600 (with latest drivers)
Windows XP Pro SP2
DirectX 9.0c

Whenever I open a second instance of EQ the client crashes on the first instance. Crashes happen just before the character is about to appear in the world in the second instance.

I have turned off all texures and models and set all parameters to there lowest setting.

I just purchased the subscription hoping I could 3 instance, I cannot even 2 instance.

Any suggestions?

I just patched a common issue users have. Close WinEQ and restart it so it patches itself, and give it another shot

Very strange. Your sysinfo.txt is nearly identical to mine, so there's not much that sticks out. In fact, the only thing I see at all is this:
CPU 1: Unknown CPU Type @ 1541MHz
I've never seen an "Unknown CPU Type" in Windows XP info..

Go into your system control panel, into the Device Manager, and verify that nothing listed has an exclamation point on its icon. Also look under "Processors" in the device manager and see what it says there. All CPUs for many years now have information strings that Windows grabs and uses.

If all that checks out, I'm not really sure what to suggest, unfortunately. Your system has SP2 so I assume you keep it updated, your video card drivers are the newest, etc.

It's interesting that this only happens when 2-boxing, particularly now that I patched the main problem some people have. Can you start 2 instances without crashing if you don't use WinEQ?

Also, if you can load a single instance all the way to character select, then bring up the game window context menu (either by shift+right clicking, or by releasing the mouse and then right-clicking on the title bar) and select "Generate System Info", the sysinfo.txt produced at that time may show other modules that get loaded later on, that might be interfering.

I was having some of the same problems along with my computer just rebooting it self. My problems were all in windows. I reinstalled windows and all my problem have been corrected. Just something to thing about.
