daoc issue

Post by z0rk » Wed Oct 27, 2004 5:38 pm

When i try to run a second account it allows me to login then crashes before bringing up the charater select screen. tried useing quick login, it crashes right after logging in. i can log in two accounts if i use wineq2 for 1 account then launch the second with out wineq.

Once in a while theres a fluke that stops the game window itself from loading. Try again and see if that changes anything.

768MB of RAM might be a little low, I'm not entirely sure of the memory requirements of DAOC though. I will get this tested tomorrow and see what I can do for you

well i often run 2 accounts on this system with the built in windowing. theres alot of lag when i start the second account but it settles down after about 5min. theres a built in command /clientsleep that causes the non active window to stop drawing more recorces than it needs to stay alive, ie no graphics. this causes the second client to run on about 100mb of ram where the main is running on 400+ depending on what your doing. i wonder if while in running in wineq if its not accessing this tho im not sure why it wouldnt.

Nah, it should still perform the same as without WinEQ. I'm also going to build in a FPS limiter so that may help as well. We're going to be doing some more testing on DAOC very soon, with all of the different client versions

I'm currently doing some performance testing with 2 Trials of Atlantis clients with 2 monitors. Going to work on some things to get it up to speed :)

/clientsleep background doesn't seem to do much even after I let the game determine if it's in the background or not. Both clients use 350mb of RAM either way. And there does seem to be a bit of lag at the startup on one of the accounts as you mentioned.

I'll be adding a FPS indicator and limiter to the DAOC plugin and we'll see how things go. Thanks for your feedback

yeah i found that the memory useage in windows mode is always more.. i ran 2 client in full screen mode with /cliensleep background i found that if i alt-tab to firefox both clients use about 150mb. where in windows mode there around 300. /clientsleep minimized seems to drop it down to 200 if i minimize both clients.

FPS display and limiter added, and I even got the plugin working for the Classic client :) I think the next version will be favorable. I should have it out tomorrow.

Start a new thread for me when you give it another shot so I can keep things straight. If it works great or if you have issues, please let me know either way so I know where to devote my time :)
