Hya again! I took your advice, and downloaded the 2.0 beta. Set up my two profiles. I have 1 account running off each HDD. The profiles are identical, with the exception of the pathing.
I can load into the games , no worries, but cannot change the aspect ratios, in order to split my screen. I end up with two small boxes with microscopic chat boxes, barely readable even after /chatfontsize 5.
Furthermore I find that my Available Ram is at 5%, and climbs only very slowly. Just getting acount 2 to follow account 1 around the outside perimiter of PoK is a major mission. I realise lag is part of the problem there, but my network utilization is less than 30% to my ISP. It seems more like a memory problem, though 1024 PC3200 DDR should be more than sufficent, I would think.

The following processes are running besides WinEQ2.0b + 2 seesions:

One client or another crashes within 10 minutes of load in, usually when I'm doing a "mouselook" with the leader. I am not running EQPN concurrently, as I am under the impression that its integrated into this version of WinEQ.

Couls someone please have a look, at this? I'm sorry if I've overkilled with the info, but wasn't sure exactly what was required. If there are processes I can shut down, perhaps to reduce the load?

BTW I have set pagefile size on EACH drive to run from 766 to 1500 MB. Is this sufficient?

Thanks for any help! =)

Hello. You shouldn't need to change the ratio, just the resolution. Once in game, hit ALT+O, display tab, click Video Modes, and there should be 17 extra resolutions for you to choose from, including the 512x768 or 1024x389 that you're looking to run. If you can go into the game with WinEQ 2.0 and show me a screenshot proving otherwise I will look into it, but it's really impossible for them not to be there :)

Autofollowing in POK can always be a pain if your clip plane is up. I need to add EQPlayNice's settings to SysInfo.txt so I can see those. I do see that your in-game maximum FPS setting is at 20. With EQPlayNice running, you can just leave that at 100. It's entirely possible that that is causing you problems. What is EQPN showing your FPS as?

I hope I've posted these right. Still no half size resolutions listed, although there are more than the 11 from before. Also, you will notice I have set the framerate back to 100 fps. Both clients crashed within minutes of these shots being taken.

In both cases, the same error box appeared, "eqgame has encountered an error and needs to close. You may lose any unsaved information." I actually got the first account to camp to character select, before it crashed. At that point, the framerate in character select was 2 fps. That's right, 2.

Any ideas?

Thanks for taking me through this. I'm including another log just in case it might help:

Okay the screenshots show the problem.
Image

Your desktop resolution is showing up as 2048x1536. You should be using Windows XP's dual monitor support instead of something that's making the resolution 2048x1536. You will get much better framerate by allowing DirectX to recognize the primary and secondary adapters rather than forcing a 2048x1536 primary that spans both monitors. Until now I've only seen this problem with NVIDIA users -- they like to use nView or whatever it is, the NVIDIA desktop spanning software. Unfortunately this costs them a lot of performance.

I'm not positive as to whether that's what is causing your crash issue or not, but that's the first recommendation I have. Your newer SysInfo.txt doesn't have the EQPlayNice information so it's not the absolute latest (I quietly updated EQPN last night). Close WinEQ 2.0 and restart it, try using Windows' dual monitor support instead of the other software (you can do it in the Desktop control panel, from right clicking on your desktop and hitting Properties). Let me know how that goes.

I do see that you're missing 5 newer resolutions but that's from the server not having updated information to send you about them. I'll have to fix that.

Hi again! I have Uninstalled ATI Catalyst, checked Desktop/Properties/Settings. My monitor (1) has two settings only: 800 X 600, and 1024 X768. Its set to the latter. Reboot/connect/loaded WinEQ. Loaded Profile Songlark. Load-/Login screens huge, in lower righthand corner. Went to options. Card resolution set to 1024 X 768. Rinse / repeat/ login. Clicking server select results in 20% load, then disconnection notice. Screen reverts back to Server select. Click Server again, load completes to character select. The character is still huge, charcter select bar nearly fills left side of screen. Framerate around 2-5 fps. Select character, load in.
Screen still too big, some windows not visible, others moved. Check Video Modes. No change. 16 fps. Down to 250 available RAM.

Seems to me that the program still thinks the resolution is twice what it should be. Went to Device manager/Display Adapter. There are two listed, Radeon 9200 and Radeon 9200 Secondary. Tried disabling each in turn, ensuring 2nd display set to 1024X768 in Desktop Properties, when the Primary was disabled. Reboot, etc. load in. Same result in all circumstances.

Edited both profiles to use primary/secondary/application controlled in turn. Try it all again. No change. Revert back to original settings for all hardware and profiles. Cry. Look for foam brick. Beat dog. Hold my mouth funny. Walk away. Come back. Beg for help.

Thanks =)

Ummmm. BTW. I'm only using 1 monitor, not two. I had to resize the windows to take screenshots, by minimizing them 1 at a time?
I'm trying to get TWO 512 X 768 windows running concurrently on the same monitor?
The only way I can do this currently is to choose 1024 X1536 (i think) in game Video mode, and then release the mouse and resize to half screen by dragging. Tiny, tiny Chatbox and windows then. And lousy framerate (16-20)

Thanks, Song

Hmm... well then.. Your system definitely thinks you're running 2 monitors, or maybe 4 since your resolution is 1024x768... and it's reporting to DirectX that the resolution of your system is 2048x1536. I really have no idea what you're running that's causing it, but thats why the resolutions of 512x768 and 1024x384 are not in the list. I can add custom resolutions that are 1/2 height + 1/4 width and 1/2 width + 1/4 height, but in the end the best solution is to find out why your system is running 2048x1536 resolution and get it back to 1024x768.

Hope this helps. Wondering if (Under first heading , Sysytem Info) 2 nd to last line "DX Setup Perameters : Not Found" means anything?

Huh.. very confusing about the resolution being reported as 2048x1536 in game. I added the extra custom resolutions, you should find them at the bottom of the list in game. I'll also add info to the SysInfo.txt from Direct3D so I can get a better idea of whats going on in game as well.
