WINEQ for Everquest II tileing Issue! Please HELP!

Post by Darkejo1 » Tue Dec 18, 2007 9:27 am

When I load WinEQ everything loads fine. The problem is when I load more than one in tiled mode. I have 4 different EQ II accounts and when I run all 4 I get an image like the one at the bottom. I wouldnt know how to explain it any other way. I've tried everything to fix it and nothing works. If I take it off tiled mode, I just get half of the screen I should be seeing. I've used the boarder mode and I still get the same thing.

This has unfortunately been a known issue with EQ2 since it came out, and is briefly described in the WinEQ manual in the EverQuest II features section. If you really need to shrink the windows smaller than 800x600 -- e.g. in a tiled configuration -- then you can potentially use Inner Space to get the size you want (however, it's fairly technical as opposed to the fairly idiot proof use of WinEQ).

But, to explain. Any time the EQ2 window is shrunk smaller than 800x600, a bug in the game's interface scaling algorithm will cause a disconnect between the size of the window, and the size the display is scaled to. As you shrink the window, the UI starts to shrink twice as fast. In fact, without WinEQ, the game prevents you from shrinking the window that small, so the bug is otherwise hidden (it works fine with resolutions >= 800x600). So unfortunately, WinEQ 2 features that involve smaller window sizes -- e.g. tiling and Picture-in-Picture -- are negatively affected, to the point of useless.

If this changes your mind about a Pro subscription, I'd be happy to refund your payment, as I won't have the time to make this feature work with WinEQ 2 for a while yet.
