Post by Aalwein » Fri Mar 04, 2005 11:52 pm

When you select border (from the right-click context menu) the flicker goes away.

The error on closing is a known issue with WinEQ 2, and probably wont be resolved. The issue does not exist, however, with Inner Space (and the same hotkeys WinEQ has are provided for you by default).

As far as flickering.. do you have the game itself set to windowed mode? If not, it needs to be. What exactly is flickering? The bottom half? Just the portion where the taskbar would be?

not necessarily where the task bar is, but where there is empty black space at the bottom, between lines of text. I think it's just time to switch to inner space... guess i better start looking at all the add-ons.

The only time I've seen flickering like that is in true full screen mode, when some window is set to "always on top". For example, in early EQ when they didnt have windowed mode and I hadnt heard of EQWindows yet, I always had to minimize Winamp or it would keep flickering into the screen, because it's always on top. In windowed mode, that should never happen... I'm really unsure why you would see it in WoW with WinEQ at all and it certainly doesnt happen to everyone -- my wife uses WinEQ when she plays WoW and would complain non-stop if that happened to her ;)... My first and the most obvious suggestion would be to try the newest drivers from nvidia.com (assuming NVIDIA card here) or even beta drivers from guru3d.com -- there's actually some WHQL beta drivers and they might improve things for you.

Past that, I really dont know. It could be some other program flickering itself in. If you have WoW set to always on top, for example, another always on top program might try to show itself and then get replaced by WoW again.

Or another possibility, I suppose, is a window that has a DirectShow layer for showing videos, etc, such as Windows Media Player. If the two windows overlap, that might do weird stuff but would usually be the entire window flickering.

If you use Nvidia driver, you can try the following:

Go in "Permormance & Quality Settings"

Under, "Global Driver settings", go to "Vertical sync" and remove the application controled checkbox and be sure it is turn off.

When 2-Boxing on a same pc, it removed all my texture flickering in expansion like Oow and Don.

A friend of mine also have some kind of weird "glitch" in WoW that have been fixed by disabling the VSync.

Hope it can help you.
