Help, I'm not crashing to desktop, I'm rebooting!!

Post by Sport » Sun Dec 26, 2004 10:07 am

Hope someone can give me some guidance. I don't have any exp to draw from as this is a new program to me. I try to load up multiple windows inside of WinEQ 2.0 but it keeps forcing a reboot for some reason. I have turned off my firewall (shhhhh!) and all other programs (except for my AV (System Suite (V-Com)). No warning, just jumps in and reboots. Now I thought maybe I was too intensive but I can run three windows of EQ for hours (not being loaded thru WinEQ). Any ideas? Much thanx and happy holidays. ))

I need to add texture memory to the list of things displayed. Anyway, I have to say its highly unlikely that the reboots are a WinEQ issue, simply because it doesn't do much ;) I'm not familiar with the driver version you're using. Are you sure it's not a conflict with that driver? I would at least try the current one available at nvidia.com.

Past that, I dont see anything out of the ordinary. It's possible that you're running out of system physical RAM (are you?) and then when DirectX tries to allocate more video memory, it blue screens (you might not see the blue screen, but it's there. configurable in the XP settings). That would also happen when running 3 windows with whatever other method really.

If so, why can I run three windows of EQ using the SOE loader and the programs run fine? I just can't get the screen windows the size I want except by using WinEQ. I don't play any other game but EQ. So I just need to get it to work for it alone. ))

It would be really nice if I could just edit a message hehe. I feel really stupid always having to make a new reply ). dohhh

Anyways, I am not rebooting at all using inner space program but there aren't any 'real' user functions in it for an old guy. Is there a way for me to pull out the system info and post it (with all three windows running) and you can see if there is anything drastically different between these windows vs using the WnEQ info file?

I removed edit permissions a few months ago because people kept editing old messages instead of replying, and then there was no way for me to know about it after I had already read their message.

You can open any number of sessions and then in each one, use the game window context menu's "Generate System Info" selection. It'll open the newly generated system info file in notepad.

rebooting

I was having this exact same problem with multiple sessions of EQ BEFORE i DL'd the winEQ2playnice program, which i am only just now learning to use. The fix for me: i had VERTEX SHADERS turned off in game, located under the options menu, display tab, advanced. Make sure this is turned on in ALL instances of EQ as it will cause crashes like what you have described.
