EQ1 Login error after WinEQ2 Pro update.

EQ1 Login error after WinEQ2 Pro update.
I just launched WinEQ2 Pro today, after using it with no issues last night two boxing.
It patched itself, and the patch notes refer to a EQ2 issue that was resolved.
However, I'm playing EQ1, havr not changed any of my settings since last night.. and am getting a lauch error from eqgame.exe when i launch it from my profile in WinEQ2 pro.
eqgame.exe - Unable to locate component.
"This appplication has failed to start because d3dx9_37.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
Then i get a WinEQ2 pro error, saying it can not initialize at this time.
Launching EQ from the regular eqgame.exe works fine, but kinda defeats the purpose of me using WinEQ2 pro.
Just a heads up...

Holy crud...
I relaunch Wineq2 pro 1 minute after posting my issue above.. and whammo.. new patch: you guys rock
2.15 - 11/25/2008
- All games
* WinEQ 2 now requires the March 2008 (or later) update to DirectX 9. Unfortunately at this time,
the Microsoft DirectX 9 updater fails to download the update when using the usual update method.
If WinEQ 2 complains to you about needing this update, you may need to use the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
Once downloaded, you will need to install it into a temporary folder. It will install a DXSETUP,
which you will need to run. After doing so, the temporary folder can be removed.

i tried downloading from link above and also did the redistributed one as well like asked if it wouldnt download from the original and it still wont let me on. do i have to download the service pack 3 now as well? i know it says that it is a microsoft problem but i have tried all i know without messing up the comp. any help would be appreciated. It just doesnt like me today. no more boxin, what is the world coming to if i cant do that. Thank ahead of time
No, you do not need to download Service Pack 3.
The redistributable is all you need to download.
1. Download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
2. Run the downloaded file ( directx_nov2008_redist.exe ). It will ask you where to install it to. Change it to say the following (you can paste this):
Then click OK.
3. Once that finishes, click Run from the Start menu in Windows, and type in (or paste) the following:
Then click OK.
4. That's it. If you want to, you can now remove the C:\DX9UPDATE folder via Windows Explorer (open up My Computer, open up the hard drive (C:), click on DX9UPDATE and delete it)

I did exactly as you stated LAX, but I still get the big WinEQ error message when I run WinEQ. Any other ideas?
What does the "big WinEQ error message" say? If it states that you need to install DirectX 9, then you either made a mistake installing the DX9 update or you installed an older version.rwsanderson wrote:Lax wrote:No, you do not need to download Service Pack 3.

If you installed the nov 2008 redistributable (which extracts a bunch of files to that location), then ran DXSETUP and allowed it to complete installation, and at the end it says
"Installation Complete.
The components installed are now ready for use."
.. then that's about it.
The file D3DX9_37.DLL should now be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (regardless of 64-bit or 32-bit, and regardless of Win2k, XP or Vista, unless your windows folder is somewhere else like C:\WINNT or on another drive), and when WinEQ 2 tries to load it, it should load and not give that message.

This is what happened. It installed (VERY quickly) and I got the Installation Complete message. But still can't load MQ2.Lax wrote:If you installed the nov 2008 redistributable (which extracts a bunch of files to that location), then ran DXSETUP and allowed it to complete installation, and at the end it says

I do NOT have the D3DX9_37.dll file in my system32 directory. It wouls appear that something went wrong during installation although nothing was noted. Is it possible to just get and copy the .dll file into my system32 directory? The file D3DX9_37.DLL should now be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (regardless of 64-bit or 32-bit, and regardless of Win2k, XP or Vista, unless your windows folder is somewhere else like C:\WINNT or on another drive), and when WinEQ 2 tries to load it, it should load and not give that message.

If you have WinZip installed, you can open the file Mar2008_d3dx9_37_x86.cab (in C:\DX9UPDATE if you used the suggested install path for the redistributable) and extract the DLL into the system32 directory.
